Unlimited ambition
CiteAb’s mission is to accelerate science through our world-class search engine and data services. At the heart of our offering is a database of life science product use, built using industry-leading, AI-driven technology. This database powers our internationally renowned, unbiased reagent search platform, fundamentally changing the way scientists find the right products for their research, saving valuable time, budget and resources. Beyond supporting researchers, the same data provides life science companies with unparalleled insights into global reagent use - helping suppliers develop products scientists need and enabling biopharma companies to integrate CiteAb data into their AI initiatives. By enabling more informed decisions throughout the industry, CiteAb data supports advancements into everything from covid-19, cancer diagnosis and Alzheimer’s treatment, to climate change and crop yield improvements.
Unlimited innovation
What sets CiteAb apart is our AI-driven text mining technology, purpose-built for the life sciences. Our pipeline analyses millions of scientific publications to identify, extract and understand how reagents are used in research, performing the work of thousands of scientists in a fraction of the time.
This automated text mining is combined with expert human curation to ensure accuracy and relevance. The result is a unique database of reagent usage data that underpins our researcher tools and data services. We have been developing this technology for over a decade, continually expanding the scale, depth and categories of data available.
Unlimited potential
What began as a search engine for researchers has expanded to serve suppliers, financial organisations, publishers, and pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies with diverse data services.
Today, we work with hundreds of organisations – from global industry leaders to emerging innovators. Our researcher user base also continues to grow, with over 80,000 monthly users of our search platform from all of the top 10 universities and pharma companies.
Some of the most exciting examples of our data in use include:
Supporting the development of a new cancer diagnostic assay through data licensing by an exciting biotech company
Helping scientists in four of the last ten Nobel Prize winning labs through our reagent search engine
Informing the development of antibody products that drive more reproducible science, with our market data being used by 4 of the top 5 antibody vendors.
Unlimited talent
CiteAb is a diverse team of biologists, data scientists, and business development and marketing specialists. This combination of technical and strategic expertise enables us to better support the life science community. As the company has grown, our team of product managers have broadened our product offering, while our developers continue to innovate and advance our technology.
In our small team, we make sure everyone’s ideas are heard and valued, and each team member plays a key role in our success. We offer professional development opportunities – from mentoring to training courses – to support our employees as they grow.

Bath Community
Events with the University Every two years we hold an Antibody Validation Meeting at the University of Bath, bringing scientists from around the world to the city to discuss and advance this important topic! We also regularly sponsor and participate in events like the Bath Hack at the University.
Supporting local businesses We love looking to Bath-based businesses as a company, whether its holding company events in Bath, to using local printing services.
Founded
CiteAb began as a research project at the University of Bath in 2012, developed in partnership with the technology company Storm (who we now share offices with!). We officially spun out as a commercial entity in 2014 and have continued to grow since, working toward our goal of providing researchers and suppliers with the high-quality data they need to drive progress across the life science sector.
